JULOOS explores the act of sitting on the floor as a bodily and social relationship to home, memory, and place. Growing up in an Arab household, sitting on the floor was part of everyday life, particularly in rooms where the floor was carefully kept clean and treated as a central living space. The work draws on this experience through Palestinian cement tiles, shifting them from architectural surfaces into a space for gathering, sitting, and listening.
The project developed in two parts. The first began as a three-dimensional model and evolved into an interactive installation in which visitors could rearrange the tiles and connect their lines, transforming the work through participation.
